■1 Rails Podcast: Shugo Maeda

シカゴでのRailsConfのときにインタビューしていたらしい、Rails Podcast。今回は前田さんの巻。9分ぐらいなのでいつもより短め。

毎度お馴染みChunky Baconのテーマの後に、「おおお、前田さんが日本語で回答を!」と思った途端に吹替の人の英語になっちゃう(そして最後にまた前田さんの声がちょっとだけ聞こえる)。Ruby/Railsの書籍の翻訳(英語のを日本語に、日本語のを英語に?)はどーなってんのよとか、「日本でRubyKaigiみたいなことを今年になるまでやってなかったというのは一体どーゆうことなのよ」といった質問にも紳士に回答してらっしゃいます。っていうか『Rails Recipes』の翻訳が出るそうです(と、前田さんが言ってました)。

ちなみに12月には『More Rails Recipes』が出る模様。副題は"72 New Ways to Build Stunning Rails Apps"。著者がChad Fowler単著じゃなくてMike Clarkとの共著になっているのが楽しみ。テスティング方面がもっと充実してることに期待したい。

『More Rails Recipes』に言及したついでに書いておくと、達人の本棚からはこれ以外にも『Rails Deployment』(デプロイメント!!!!)、『Rails for Java Programmers』の2冊が予定されてるっぽい。いずれも11月に300ページ、の予定。

最後に、時間軸は前後するけれども、これらRails関連書籍の前、2006年9月(ってもう来月か)には待望の『Agile Web Development with Rails』の2nd Editionが出版される(はず)。

また、Rails関連書籍以外の「達人の本棚」のラインナップについて書きたいことがなくはないけれども、それを記すにはこのチラシの裏は狭過ぎる。
