■1 『かんたんRuby on RailsでWebアプリケーション開発』

レビューのご褒美に献本していただきました。ありがとうございます。

「かんたん」という言葉に惑わされてはいけない。著者は誰あろう、artonさん。曰く、「Railsは『複雑なのに簡単』」である、と。以下、どう「かんたん」なのかを軽く紹介してみる:

0日目で概要、1日目でインストールしてHello Worldを済ませたら、
2日目で最初にやること: 独自のRakeタスクを定義する
3日目Ajax,4日目でファイルアップロードをこなしたら、
5日目: 丸ごとRuby-GetText(刊行時点で本書は最もRuby-GetTextに詳しい一冊)
6日目: 丸ごとLoginEngine(刊行時点で本書は最もLoginEngineに詳しい一冊)
7日目でWebサービスに入門したら、最後は2日がかりの仕上げ、ジオコーディング&Google Maps API。10日目にデプロイして「かんたん」を卒業。おめでとう!

Railsは当然として、Rubyにも詳しくない方が対象読者*1とのことなので、書籍のサンプルコードの解説に紙面が割かれ、これを読み進めるのに必要なRubyの文法のフォローもあり。本書の感想をひとことで述べるならば、artonはガチ。

*1 それどころかWebアプリケーションにも詳しくない人も対象読者だそう。
